Today, we provide you with an overview of Ibiza’s most popular local markets you must visit —open in this very atypical season of 2020— and rove around.
Mercadillo San José
A craftwork and organic food market, San José market has been open since 13 June 2020 and will remain so until October 2020. A fantastic spot to find 100% local products and discover seasonal food in Ibiza. Las Dalias
Las Dalias hippy market needs no introduction and is a must if you visit Ibiza. It opens all year round, particularly on Saturdays. Now, in summer, its popular Night Market opens every Monday, Tuesday and Sunday from 7pm to 12:30am. These opening hours give you the chance to enjoy its special charm surrounded by different illumination and decorations. Enjoy wandering around its stands during warm Ibizan summer nights.
Mercadillo de Punta Arabí
Steeped in over 40 years of history, this market, located in the Es Canar area, is the oldest type of “hippy market” on the island. Every Wednesday since 22 July, artisans and artists sell a huge variety of their most exclusive handcrafted objects, fashion, natural cosmetics, antiques, musical instrumentals and original items sourced from different parts of the world. In addition, it has a special food court and a children’s area for the little ones
Mercado de Forada
It’s probably the ‘most usual’ market on the tourist trail and yet one of the most often frequented by locals of the area because of its home grown produce frm Ibizan farmers and 100% local craftwork. Every Saturday at the Forada crossroads, this market, open all year round, sets up its stands from 10am to 4pm in summer, and 2pm in winter. In addition, you can always cross the street and have an ice cold beer at the local bar Can Teixidó.
Mercadillo de Sant Jordi
This is Ibiza’s largest second hand market. Located at the Sant Jordi trotting stadium, you’ll find everything you could possibly imagine here: books, clothes, furniture, antiques… A space where you can get evrything you need at an affordable price, all second hand. Under the motto “BUY, SELL AND SWOP”, this market is held every Saturday throughout the year from 8am to 3pm. You’d never imagine the amount of people who go there!
