Can Alfredo
This restaurant is located in the heart of Ibiza Town, this is a classic spot for Ibiza’s gastronomy and it’s been around forever. Alfredo was the eldest son of a German family who fled from the Nazis in 1934 and settled in the island. The current owner of the restaurant, Juanito Riera, whose customers almost always end up calling him Alfredo, was born in 1942. That same year, his father bought the premises from the German family and made it into a place where Ibizans held receptions and family events. Years later, his son backed more refined cuisine and, for decades, it has been seen as the capital’s most distinguished restaurant serving Ibizan cuisine.
Its varied dishes, the subtle preparation and excellent raw materials make it an absolute must. The interior room is decorated with dozens of portraits of VIPs who have enjoyed their food. The exterior area has a patio located in the middle of Passeig de Vara de Rey.
The chef always has refined Ibizan classics on the menu, such as Ibizan-style John Dory, sofrit pagès (traditional stew), paella and borrida de ratjada (skate stew).
However, pay attention to seasonal dishes, since they are real delights that can normally only be tasted in homes in Ibiza. These include green vegetable cuinat (stew) during Easter or sauce at Christmas.
Sa Calma
A restaurant serving Ibizan cuisine with a terrace by the sea where you can see the best views of Ibiza with the old town in all its glory. Hostal Talamanca
Hostal Talamanca is one of the most popular places on the island and is located on Talamanca beach, one of the three beaches in Ibiza town. This restaurant’s terrace is right by the shore, so eating there is such a privilege at any time of the year, as it’s one of the few beachy places that is also open in winter. The stars of its menu are fish, seafood and rice dishes. And rightly so. However, there are plenty of options for carnivores too. Don’t go without trying Ibiza’s classic deserts such as flaó (mint cheesecake), orelletes (sweet pastries) and greixonera (bread pudding).
La Escalinata
This colourful, casual bar come restaurant serves delicious food presented impeccably and at very reasonable prices. It is located in Es Portal Nou, inside the walled city of Dalt Villa and boasts fabulous views.
The tables on the terrace are placed along the stone steps outside, with beautiful pouffes and small colourful sofas. It’s a very popular place and people usually go there to try their delicious modern tapas menu all made with local products and ingredients. It also has an appealing cocktail menu. Impeccably presented, you can see they are made with love and the way they are decorated always chimes with what’s in the glass. Their Mezcal Mule is a roaring success, but you’ll also find others that you’ll love!
